Sab’s INTRODUCTION
Today I’m excited because I’m introducing two idioms into the FunLetter! They will make your English richer and more… idiomatic!
And here they are: π€‘

ENGLISH IDIOMS: Animals
1) “let the cat out of the bag” β reveal a secret, usually by mistake
Example: Janet really let the cat out of the bag about Peter’s surprise birthday party: she asked him if he was coming!
2) “straight from the horse’s mouth” β directly from the person who knows best
Example: How do you know she’s leaving? I heard it straight from the horse’s mouth – she told me herself!

WORDS in the NEWS
The BBC news headline about the European Football Championship said:
“The lads are shattered. Scotland’s Euro over after Croatia defeat.”
DEFINITIONS
‘lads’ – this is familiar language for boys or men
‘shattered’ – this literally means ‘broken’ but here it means either ‘very tired’ or ‘very disappointed’
PHOTO of the DAY
I publish photos and write about Paris every day. This is today’s photo.
EXERCISE
Write about this photo in English.
What can you see?
Where is it?
What time or season is it?
Can you see any people?
What are they doing?
How do they feel?
Do you like the photo or not, and why?
Would you like to be in the photo?
Where would you prefer to be?
Post your texts in our Fun Facebook Group here, and comment on other people’s posts.
π₯° Let’s make the English love go round!
